SAT Strategy: No Calculator Part

  • Read every question very carefully.
  • Make sure you circle or underline every time they say true or false.
  • Make sure you look at what they are asking for very carefully.  There are plenty of questions where they want one more step.
    • An example of this:  They give you equations.  You solve for x.  Then you look at the answers and see they have your answer.  You choose it.  And it is wrong, because they didn't want x, they wanted x*y.  Read Closely.
    • They have a rectangle with length, width, and area.  The answers will include all of those things, but they only want one of them.  Make sure you read close and answer what they are asking for.

SAT Strategy:  Calculator Part

  • The calculator will not be helpful in this section.  So just leave it sitting there, off.
  • A lot of the questions in this section are graph problems, so know the parts of a graph and how to interpret them.  I have a whole section on graph questions here.
